Trainee

Training Contracts

  • Training Contracts (2 years) Intake of 4 trainees a year. The small intake means you will have real responsibility from the outset working with a range of clients from start-ups to multi-national companies.
  • 4 x 6 months seats across our departments in both brands:

Memery Crystal: Corporate, Tax, Real Estate, Real Estate Litigation, Real Estate Private Client, Commercial IP &Technology, Employment, and Banking.

Rosenblatt: Dispute Resolution (Corporate Investigations, Debt Recovery, DLT, Cryptocurrencies & Crypto Assets, Financial Crime, Financial Services, Insolvency & Financial Restructuring, Probate and Wills, Serious & General Crime)

This will give you the opportunity to work alongside leading experts and senior specialists in their fields across both brands, which reflects the firm’s investment in your career progression and in you as an individual.

Salary & Sponsorship

Our 2023 first year trainee salary is £44,000 per annum whilst the salary for second year trainees is £46,000 per annum. Upon qualification, solicitors receive £78,000 per annum (2023).

In addition to offering a competitive salary and a comprehensive range of benefits, the firm will also support you through the funding of your PGDL and LPC/SQE exams and studies. Furthermore, the firm will provide a maintenance grant of £6,000 for each year of study.

Please note we are unable to provide retrospective funding for those who have already completed part or all of their studies.

Career development

As a trainee you will be invited to attend a range of internal and external training sessions to build on your current legal knowledge, client management, skills on drafting, how to present research and organising file management. You will attend a departmental induction at the beginning of each new seat.

As well as the practical and technical training, you will also be given the foundation skills in business development, building client relationships and the financial understanding of how a law firm operates as a business.

Mentoring scheme

Our mentoring scheme offers fee-earners at all stages from Trainees through to Directors the opportunity to talk to a more senior fee-earner or Partner. Topics of discussion can cover anything from day to day work issues to career milestones (seat choices and qualification) where the mentee is looking to seek guidance, support and advice on a confidential basis.

Trainee Retention

We aim to recruit trainees who have the qualities to be successful future solicitors and Partners at the firm. We are proud that we have retained a high percentage of our trainees as they qualify into growing departments. Over the past 5 years we have retained on average 4 out of 5 trainees.
