There has been considerable interest in the tokenization assets such as equities, debt instruments, real estate, funds even cash.
Many institutions have been conducting pilots into how to tokenize assets and some have started to actually issue such instruments. We have seen money market funds being tokenized in US, UK and EU.
Another asset class to use DLTs and blockchain technology is cash as according to The Bank of International Settlement, over 90% of central banks are looking at Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs). However the very essence of the Future of Money is being questioned by new digital payment tools such as CBDC, tokenized deposits and stablecoins.
We will be unpicking some of the opportunities and challenges of tokenization and the Future of money.
